Hello, you have reached the home of Tracy R. Nauman Company. This is where
I, Tracy Nauman display the fine crafted furniture, cabinets, and
frames I make at my shop
in Mound City Missouri. I have called Mound City home for most of the time
since I was born in 1972. I am happily married to a short little feisty
gal, and have three wonderful daughters. I am the third generation of
carpenters out of my family. My journey in the craft began at an early age
when I would go to work with my dad at the Nauman Construction and Cabinet
Shop in Mound City. I spent many hours sweeping, picking up scraps, going
after this, going after that, and working along side the craftsman. I would
watch and learn, take the teasing and ribbing until the time I started to
be able to do the work on my own. All the while through school I would go
to work with my dad honing my skills and learning what it takes and means
to be a carpenter. After graduation I tried my hand at college and found

am better suited to work with my hands. So I went back to work in
the family business. It is then when I learned that I was really proud of
my trade, and started working at becoming not just a good carpenter but a
good craftsman also. When I was a young boy my father taught me that a
carpenter has to be able to know how to do all areas of the building trade.
For the next several years I studied and learned, and worked until I became
very good at what I do. It was then I was able to decide which areas of the
trade I wanted pursue. That led me to join the United Brotherhood of
Joiners and Carpenters of America. After joining the UBC I went to work In
Kansas City for one of the biggest general contractors in the country as a
finish carpenter. For the next couple of years I worked on several high
profile jobs, trimming, hanging doors, setting cabinets, and building
staircases, until I received my Journeyman's certificate. While working as
a Journeyman I got tired of getting up at 4 a.m. and |

driving a hundred
miles to work. I then decided to go after what I love. That is making
beautiful furniture and cabinetry. So in 2006 I started my own custom
carpentry shop in the family shop in Mound City Missouri where I have built
many quality, fine crafted, pieces of furniture and cabinets. That brings
us to the present time, and the start of the Tracy R. Nauman Company
website. I hired the Kyle David Group to build my site and show off my
craftsmanship. What a great company to work with. My company motto is
practicing the art of craftsmanship. Craftsmanship truly is an art, that
know matter what your experience, everyday in the shop you learn and become
a better craftsman. My goal is to have something I have crafted in every
state in America. I am proud of my work and my trade. I prouder still that
what I have crafted will be around much longer than myself. So this is
where I say thank you for stopping by. I hope that I will be able to make
you a piece that you will be as proud of as I am. Tray Ray Nauman, Go

When we build, let us think that we build forever. Let it not be for
present delight nor for present use alone. Let it be such work as our
descendents will thank us for; and let us think, as we lay stone on stone,
that a time is to come when those stones will be held sacred because our
hands have touched them, and that men will say, as they look upon the labor
and wrought substance of them, "See! This our father did for us." John
Ruskin.
